Mind For Music's fancy new Random Standard Generator is a great tool for any practicing jazz musician. A huge repertoire and the ability to transpose on the spot are absolutely essential for any competent musician, and jazz is no different!
This program will give you a random standard and a random key to play that standard in. The generator is still in a beta mode, so I will be making changes and adding new songs as often as I can. The song list is derived mostly from my experience as a jazz musician; I have a long list of what I consider to be essential jazz standards, songs you will likely hear/play no matter what city or scene you are in. The list is in no way exhaustive and will continue to grow as I add to it.
You will get a different standard and song each time you press the button or refresh the page. Use your real books or memory and get to work!
