Convert your arrangements, compositions and scores into real audio files! While music composition and notation software is designed to create scores that are easy to read and to modify, the audio capabilities of these programs is can be extremely limiting for composers and arrangers. MIDI conversion is a new service offered by Mind For Music that can help turn the default instrument sounds from various composition programs and Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) into real, professional sounding digital and analog instruments.
Check out some of the examples below for more on MIDI conversion; at the moment we are only offering a few select instruments but feel free to contact us if you would like to know more or have any questions.
Drums
Drums
Most notation programs (Finale, Sibelius, MuseScore etc...) do a pretty poor job with their drum sounds generally; these programs are made to accurately notate drum parts and not really to emulate the sound and feel of a real drummer. This can be a problem when listening to or exporting sheet music to audio files since the result is never a realistic sound and performance. However the MIDI files from these programs can be imported into other programs (Logic, Pro-Tools etc...) where they can then be quantized/humanized (adjusted for a more realistic feel), mixed/EQ'd and run through any number of great third party percussion and drum virtual instruments. Below are some examples of the standard MIDI drum sounds from these programs and the same file after being treated like a real drum part.

Bass
Bass
The bass guitar is an incredibly dynamic and flexible instrument, qualities that most notation programs don't accurately reflect during playback. By using higher quality synth instruments along with MIDI quantization/humanization techniques a lot of life can be breathed into bass parts:

Piano and the various electric pianos in jazz and contemporary music can be greatly improved with MIDI conversion. Everything from a grand piano to a Rhodes or clavinet can be upgraded from default notation sounds to something much more realistic:

Guitars
Guitars
Guitars also can sound pretty lackluster in most notation programs; while the bass guitar can sound passable the electric and acoustic guitar really get the short end of the stick. There are a few good virtual instruments for the guitar that can revitalize the sound but a third option is also to get a real audio recording of the notated part.
